Getting a camp fire going without paraffin

Each firelighter burns for about 7 minutes, which gives your kindling time to catch before you add larger wood. Because they are kerosene free and low in odour, the box is easier to live with in a small van locker. Always check local and campsite fire rules first, and keep any fire well away from the van, awnings and enclosed spaces.

Keep the pack somewhere dry, since damp firelighters are slower to light. If you carry your own fuel, our kiln-dried birch firewood logs go well with them.
