These retractable camping string lights run 10 m of multicolour light around your pitch, then wind back into their housing. The housing doubles as a lantern, work light and torch, so one unit covers several jobs.
Ten metres of colour on a reel
Run the string from the van to the awning or a tree, choose from eight lighting modes, and reel it in again in the morning. The reel stops it tangling in a drawer. The listing gives up to 14 hours of runtime, and a full recharge over USB takes 3 to 4 hours.
A built-in 3000mAh power bank can top up a phone or a head torch. The lights are described as weatherproof for outdoor use; dry the string before you wind it away. At 0.2 kg it adds little to your load. If you prefer one plain colour, see the white version.
